
Kuala Lumpur: Passengers in the Klang Valley can now book a taxi online via the iPhone and Android smart mobile phone.
Online taxi booking system and global positioning system (GPS) was launched chairman of the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) chairman Tan Sri Syed Hamid Albar here today. It operated company Unicablink Sunlight.
Convenient service available
Executive Director of Sunlight Unicablink, Choi Yee Wei, said the system would allow taxi companies to provide a more comfortable, fast and efficient service to passengers.
Speaking to reporters after the launch at Bukit Bintang, he said the taxi was equipped with GPS enabling it to detect passengers and makes driving easier.
"At the moment we have around 3,000 taxi drivers under our company and 1,000 already installed system.
"We expect another 1,000 taxis will be enabled by the end of this year. Taxi drivers to pay RM180 a month for this system, "he said.

He said the use of this system will help increase the income of taxi drivers by 50 percent because they no longer have to drive to find a passenger or compete with other taxi drivers.
